🌱 Spring Nourishment - Issue 124

Hello Beautiful Human -

Do you have a list of things that you, "SHOULD" do in order to be better?

Morning routines, fitness plans, wellness ideas that keep telling you, You aren't doing enough or managing life in the right way?

I know you aren't short on ideas of how to improve yourself. It's a high pile.

The brilliant truth is that, You can't shame yourself into being better.

The emotion of shame shuts down your mental capacity to learn and develop new desired skills.

No matter how much you want to start meditating or caring for your body better, if you feel shame - either shame for not having done it yet, or shame for taking the time to care for yourself - it's gonna be an uphill battle.

You might be able to muscle through - speaking harshly to yourself to "get it together" - but the practice ends up being depleted of the energy and rejuvenation you desire.

So before I share my three favorite habits, let's re-frame.

What if instead of focusing on "should's" you started with desire?

What if you dropped the to do list filled with shoulds and created a list of desires?

Sometimes we focus on a desired results too far in the future and the motivation to keep going fails.

Can you desire the process or the simple daily act that moves you in the direction you want to go?

My Top Three "Go - To" Nourishing Practices

ONE: Meditation.

What's keeping you from giving your beautiful brain a pause?

TWO: Movement & Strength.

What does your body need & desire?

THREE: Reflection.

Write it out to Ride it out. List 20 things you are grateful for today.

If habit trackers give you anxiety about when you are gonna "fall off" or you think that tomorrow you'll have more motivation to start some of these nourishing habits, just remember,

Creating new habits is not about what you're, "supposed to do"; habits are about putting a desired behavior on autopilot.

When your nourishing practices become just who you are, you don't have to shame yourself when you need to start again. You desire them.

If you are tired of living in all the "shoulds" and desperately want to get some mental, emotional, and physical nourishment infused into every day, this is where 1:1 coaching shines. We find the hidden resistance and create new narratives that empower you to become a nourished leader.

Change is possible. Be Encouraged. Good things are happening.
